The Challenge
UNICEF needed to generate innovative solutions to address climate change and flood resilience in Myanmar, involving local communities with diverse backgrounds and expertise. The challenge was to create an inclusive process where participants, many from rural areas, could ideate and develop actionable solutions for complex, large-scale issues.
The Solution
xCelery implemented its bespoke three-day design sprint framework, organizing two workshops that focused on climate change adaptation and flood mitigation. Using a design thinking approach, the workshops began with empathy-building sessions, where experts and locals shared their experiences. Participants then ideated, rapidly prototyped, and developed low-fidelity solutions. The sessions concluded with participants pitching their ideas to a panel of UNICEF and partner organization judges. xCelery tailored the program to accommodate the cultural and language needs of the participants, ensuring inclusivity and engagement.

The Outcome
Both workshops were successful, generating practical ideas that were well-received by UNICEF. The program led to the creation of the Myanmar Innovation Lab, a UNICEF-led initiative to foster ongoing innovation in the country. xCelery's adaptable approach proved essential in delivering meaningful results across diverse groups.
