The Challenge

Telenor Group needed a way to identify and select young innovators from Myanmar to represent the country at the Telenor Youth Summit in Oslo. The challenge was to design a meaningful selection process that showcased the potential of mobile telephony to solve community problems, promoting Myanmar’s innovative talent in a country where mobile internet was still new.

The Solution

xCelery proposed a three-day competition framework adapted from their Design Sprint program. They brought together 50 young people at Telenor’s Myanmar headquarters, guiding them through workshops focused on mobile technology and its potential to address local challenges. Participants ideated around community problems, developing apps and communication campaigns as solutions. The process culminated in a final pitch, with the best innovations recorded and submitted to Telenor’s global team for final selection.

The Outcome

The program successfully selected two young innovators to represent Myanmar at the global summit in Oslo. Telenor was impressed with the quality of ideas and the involvement of their leadership team. The success of the workshop led to Telenor renewing the program for three years and rolling out similar workshops in other Telenor markets globally.
