Our origin story
We were born in an environment of constraints, making us lean and resourceful.
xCelery started in Myanmar in 2012. At the time, this was considered the most difficult place in the world to start a business, and we started 4: A co-working space, an accelerator, an entrepreneurship festival, and eventually an innovation consultancy.
Since the 2021 Myanmar coup, we've gone global. Our people are spread across Europe and Southeast Asia, which gives us a distinct cost advantage compared to competitors.
Our leadership
xCelery is a network of product specialists led by Pete Silvester.
Pete has been building ventures and supporting founders in Southeast Asia for over a decade. He is an occasional lecturer in entrepreneurship, and is a sought-after advisor for startups and coach for founders. He has built multiple digital products and ventures for himself and for his clients. This has included Myanmar's first startup incubator, coworking space, and entrepreneurship festival, an award winning travel app, and an online travel agency. In past lives, Pete has been a strategy consultant, economist, and intelligence analyst. He holds Masters degrees from top universities in France and Singapore. He is a proud father of two boys.
Who we recruit
We recruit innovation consultants, venture builders, and product generalists in Europe and Asian time zones. We like people with:
- Amazing problem solving skills: You have frameworks, tools, and experience breaking problems apart.
- Uncertainty tolerance: Venture building is really about clearing away uncertainty.
- Good "war stories": You did something bold, difficult, and borderline crazy, and you came out the other side with some hard-earned and battle-tested skills and mindsets.
